Mostly known for her surgeries during the nineties. "The reincarnation of Saint-Orlan" Where she transformed herself into elements from paintings and sculptures of women. She picked Boticellis Venus' chin, Jean-Léon Gérômes Psyche's nose, Leonardo's Mona Lisas forehead, the lips of Francois Boucher's Europa and the eyes of Diana in a Fontainebleu painting from the sixteenth-century. Every each of them because of their stories, not for their canons in their beauty they represent. Psyche for her fragility and vulnerability within her soul, Dianas power over godesses and women but inferior to the gods and men, Mona Lisa for her beauty and anti-beauty, Europa for her adventure and Venus for her carnal beauty.
I'm in awe for her belief in art, and how she as an artist has chosen to approach and attack problems within and without the boundaries in art and femininity.
